Barnard’s star |
With an apparent magnitude of 9.5, Barnard’s star is invisible to the naked eye. It is famous for having the largest proper motion of any star, moving across the sky the apparent distance of the full Moon every 180 years. The rapid proper motion occurs because Barnard’s star is close [5.9 light years away] and because it actually is moving quickly. Since the main component of motion is towards the Sun, in about 10,000 years Bernard’s star will replace Proxima Centauri as the nearest star.I believe this is a star is one to watch in the future, yet to have an astrological meaning.
