Faith Healing or self healing

I felt the urge to write this article after watching a programme on BBC2 about faith healing, the doctor leading the research did not deny the powerful healings that she witnessed, but tried to put a scientific reason to why it worked, finally after witnessing various tests she finally identified with what she called “the placebo effect”, and that if a person believes they are being treated or healed then it will happen, the study even went as far as operating on people, opening them up, and not having corrective surgery, yet afterwards people were cured.

I felt the programme just touched on the power of the mind, it observed “tricking the mind” through the placebo effect but it also left so much unsaid.

I felt the impulse to present another perspective on the true essence of faith healing.

Faith healing in England is the speciality of the Christian scientists.

Christian Scientists

The religious society “the Christian scientists” have built their religion around the understanding that all matter responds to thoughts, not just living flesh and organs, but every atom everywhere.

The religious group try hard to keep their followers away from televisions and media or situations that can change the very essence of their beliefs and that is “everything is perfect in the eyes of God”, this belief also extends to “nothing is lost in the eyes of God” and there is “no disease in the eyes of God” and “there is no death in the eyes of God”. “All is love”.

At first glance this ideology seems like there is a need for a reality check, why should people want to deny what is so evident, without being rude, it’s just as if they had signed a membership of the flat Earth society, in this age! But the thought behind this ideology is that healing is blocked by seeing death and disease as a real condition.

The Christian Scientists healing comes from acknowledging only what is real and eternal, and disease is considered a temporary condition and not real.

By actually trying to eradicate an illness, the theory is that it is being identified as a real condition. “Go away disease” seeks a solution to a problem. The Christian Scientist’s idea is that energy and mental power is given to that which doesn’t exist by admitting to a disease.

In their healing they visualise and acknowledge only the perfect and the temporary undesirable situation already healed.

This thinking is going along the lines of humans control matter with their thoughts.

“All that goes wrong is down to erroneous thoughts which come from an uncontrolled mind, People, and all that becomes ill with diseases are said to be created, unbeknown to them, through having absorbed thoughts about illness from the mass consciousness of society.”

There are several beliefs which allow the situation to change, such as “An accident is an illusion caused by errors in ones thinking”.

By keeping the mind free from medical theories the Christian Scientist stays free from illness.

Also the power of prayer is practiced, groups of people pray for those who have gone wayward or have illness or problems, not by recognising what is wrong, but by confirming and visualising the problem already sorted and everyone “perfect”. Thank-you God for making my child fit and healthy and interested in life, and the visualisation is of a happy child which completes the prayer.

Prayers work, and have a significant healing effect, regardless of whether the patient knows about the prayers or not.

Plants benefit from prayers, they grow faster, animals benefit from prayers, Prayers show that spiritual healing is more than a placebo effect of the patient’s positive expectations.

Christian scientology may work for a few people, but for most of us who live in the western world and who are bombarded with media and advertising and are brainwashed by television at every turn, this mental state is very hard to maintain, without living in total isolation.

The Power of Prayer

Many people have never been shown how to pray, or recognize that praying can quite literally move the sea apart, as it did in the Old Testament.

Praying for an outcome with visualization sets up an “intent”, we each carry the creative spark of God; we each have the ability to create through visualization. So when many people visualize together with great desire and loving emotion, the intent is manifold and it appears.

In times past, the powerful priests kept this information secret, not revealing that every man is a piece of God and powerful in their own right, simply because priests knew their own power and wishes could be negated by the masses at any time and this could not be risked.

By taking the peoples power away and feeding those thoughts of not being worthy, the priests ensured that the people would remain powerless.

Priests went one step further and persuaded the people that God existed outside of themselves and not inside. Completing the illusion of being separate and not part of the one God.

Prayers work because all atoms are connected to the whole, its quantum physics, and the one divine power, the creative power, the power is fuelled by love and a desire to help others, the more humane and loving and for the good of many, the more likely the desire manifests.

England doesn’t have the same “God squad” as in America, where Christian groups travel around creating miracles and healings.

Always there is a pattern, that has similar requirements to the Christian scientists beliefs, where there has to be total belief and great expectation in receiving a healing, always there is a great emotional build up to create the shift, just when there looks like a hysteria, the healings happen, and this is self healing, or faith healing.

Often the reverend, is the man in the white suit who psyches everyone up, he holds the symbol of the divine in wearing white, he has every confidence everyone will be healed, he tells the audience to expect a healing, that they have every right to be healed and that he trades on his reputation of already healing many, nothing breaks the magic as each mind prays and wants to be cured, then in a split second everyone reaches a conscious state and is healed. The more people the better, because the reverend knows it’s a mass consciousness effort, football stadiums are ideal.

Faith healing requires a third party to act as a catalyst, the client needs to completely believe in the healer, the healer creates the crutch that the diseased cannot make for themselves, because of their own self worth issues, they can’t believe they can heal themselves, so they believe in another.

Faith healing is self healing using the power of the mind, or the power of many minds praying for a certain outcome. The religions of the people are irrelevant, as we are using the creative power of the one God, and it is not necessary for a person to know if they are prayed for, as its each persons loving intent for another that works. Love heals all.
